This is a larger mixer, the 7qt Artisan in metal and upon completion, will be covered in Purple Velvet Swarovski crystals! I will continue to update this post with photos I take using Instagram. Real Bride {Ashley}

As you might know, I love doing custom orders. I love brides that think outside the box, and Ashley {along with her amazing planner Halleigh from Moment Prive} literally did that. And went from outside the box, to on the box. Halleigh was creating a custom cake stand to bring the brilliant fuchsia color from the wedding to the cake, and knew that adding a crystal B on it would add an extra special touch. I think it made an elegant statement.

First, I want to wish Amal & Geoff a happy first anniversary! They got married on New Year’s Eve 2010, at an intimate ceremony and had their grand reception later in 2011. It gave Amal plenty of time to work on all the details surrounding their day. I work with Amal {well, virtually. She’s on the east coast} and many of us were recruited to help her with ideas. My specialty, of course, was the cake topper. The wedding reception was at the Cherry Blossom Banquet Hall in Sterling, VA. It rained, but proved to make for some spectacular photos! Thank you to James Lang for capturing the event!

I love when I know the bride on a personal level before they get engaged, before they even meet Mr. Right. Breanne is one of those friends. I met her a few years ago while going on a cruise with a big group of people. We had 13!! It was a week none of us will forget, and I went away with a few more friends than I started out with. Over time we’ve chatted through Myspace, then Facebook, and also on instant messenger. My how social media has changed since 2007!

When Bre and John got engaged {well, even before that} she knew she wanted, no needed, bling! We did a mixture of hot pink tones for her cake topper, and I must say, it came out great! Her wedding colors were black and fuchsia and everything turned out beautifully! Special thanks to Trizza Grantham Photography for capturing all the great moments!

Welcome to 2012! I’ve been a bit under the radar, taking all the time I can to enjoy the moments of our baby girl, Aubrey, but with the start of a New Year, I’m back in the saddle again {as they say!}. In the next few weeks there will be more Real Bride posts featuring weddings across the country. I hope you stay tuned!

A Very Special Order

Earlier this summer I received an inquiry on crystalling a kitchen appliance. Immediately I thought hmm, KitchenAid Mixer?? I replied to receive the details and found it was a KitchenAid Mixer! A pink one at that (my FAVORITE color I swear!). Not only was this going to be the biggest project I’ve ever worked on, it would also be on tv. That’s right! I was creating a very special Bridal Shower gift for Katherine Kallinis – owner of Georgetown Cupcakes with her sister Sophie LaMontagne. But the parameters were tight – I needed to crystal it in under 2 weeks!

Update!

Since the blog post, the mixer has made its way around TV Land – it has been featured on segments with Katherine and Sophie on The Chew and Live with Kelly. I would like to thank those who gave me the heads up by leaving comments on my blog! I’ve tivo’d each time it’s aired because I love seeing the reaction of the hosts. Kelly Ripa gushed over this thing and maybe her hubby would want to order one {wink, wink}. Below are copies of the video segments. Real Bride {Lauryn}

I’m SO excited to bring to you another beautiful Real Bride post!! Lauryn contacted me earlier this spring to crystal an O. But not just the front, the sides too! A girl after my heart – more crystals on a letter! I knew that this was going to be one gorgeous wedding. And when she sent me the information for her photographer, and I saw those photos, I knew it WAS a gorgeous wedding. And fun too. Looking through the pics there was a ton of everyone laughing and smiling and I think even a choreographed dance with Lauryn and her bridesmaids Here are some images, courtesy of Fairy Tale Photography.

I love that Lauryn and Kalen had guitar picks at the wedding, and love that Lauryn had a second dress. I love the damask on the cake, and I love the chapel they were married in. Everything looked to be absolute perfection! Congratulations to the two of you! I hope your wedding was everything and more! And that your marriage is an even bigger success!
